HARTLEN, Oscar James - 93, Terence Bay, Halifax Co., died November 1, 1997, in Fairview Villa. Born in Terence Bay, he was a son of the late Henry and Myrah (Blackburn) Hartlen. He was a fisherman who loved music and was proficient with any musical instrument. Surviving are daughters, Colleen (Mrs. Walter Creelman), Halifax; Gladys (Mrs. Leo Slaunwhite), Terence Bay; Muriel (Mrs. Gordon Flemming), Halifax; Veronica (Mrs. Blaine Tucker), Whites Lake; sons, Cyril, Prospect; Donald, Petawawa, Ont.; Redmond, Brookside; brother, Earnest; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Nellie Moore; sisters, Anne Riley, Marie Kiley; brothers, Foster, Frederick, Henry, Mickey, Gerald; grandson, Sheldon Tucker; great-grandson, Jacob Blackburn. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, evening prayers today, both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd. Funeral 10 a.m. Tuesday in Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Thomas Thekkekara officiating. Burial in church cemetery. Reception to follow in Terence Bay Fire Hall. Donations to any charity.
