Obituary: PAYZANT, John Arthur (NS)

PAYZANT, John Arthur - (Secondary school teacher, 23 years, with the FCBE). Quietly at home with his family by his side on Sunday, September 28, 1997, in his 59th year. John passed on to a better place where there will be no more pain, after a short but courageous fight with cancer. John is leaving behind his best friend and wife, Helen Rathwell, Kingston, Ont. Loving father of son, John; daughters, Cathy and husband Bill Stinchcombe, Janet and husband Campbell Hunter, April and husband Michael Finn, and Jackie Payzant. Poppy will be especially missed by his grandchildren, Kassandra, Jessica, JoAnna, Chelsea, Mitchell and Michelle, and sadly, will miss the upcoming birth of his seventh grandchild. John is survived by both his parents, John and Edith Payzant; sisters, Mary (Edward Clark), Marion (Dougald Bolivar), Arlene (Leaman Burke), Marlene Hagen; brothers, Charles (Caroline), all of Nova Scotia. Friends will be received at James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel, Kingston, on Wednesday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Edith Rankin Memorial United Church, 4080 Bath Rd., on Thursday, October 2, at 3 p.m., with a reception to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations made to Victorian Order of Nurses (palliative care) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
