Obituary: CORBIN, Hughes Marshall (NS)

CORBIN, Hughes Marshall - 86, Hatchet Lake, died October 16, 1997, in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building. Born in Chester Basin, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mary (Hughes) Corbin. He went overseas with the West Nova Scotia Regiment in 1939 and transferred to the headquarters of the Canadian Army. Returning home, he remained with MD#6 until March of 1946, when he joined the Department of National Health and Welfare, family allowances division. He retired in 1976, pursuing his favorite hobbies, fishing and hunting. Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Croken; daughter, Sharon Gardiner, Prospect; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by son, Jim; sister, Helen Selig. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax. Memorial service 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Christopher's Church, Hatchet Lake, Rev. Thomas Thekkekara officiating. Private family service and burial at a later date in St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Chester Basin. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Cancer Society.
