VEINOT, Oran W. - 79, Caledonia, Queens Co., died November 29, 1997, in North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia. Born in North Brookfield, he was a son of the late Alvin and Vera (Seamone) Veinot. He worked in the woods as a logger, and was a veteran of the Second World War. After the war, he worked as a full-time farmer. He was a founding member of and very active in the Maritime Ox Pulling Association, through which he won many international championship titles. He was a founding and lifetime member of Royal Canadian Legion, A.L. Patterson Branch 87, Caledonia, and member of Caledonia United Church. He was a recipient of the 50-year jewel, and was past master and past district deputy grand master of Mechanics Lodge 78, AF&AM. He was past high priest and district superintendent of Rossignol Chapter 6, Royal Arch Masons, and member of Antiquity Perceptory Knights Temple. He was a life member of Austen Bentley Council 15, Select Masters, and charter member of EBN Cochran Council 18, Select Masters, as well as a 32 degree member of Scottish Rite Masons and member of Philae Temple, Order of Nobels of Mystic Shrine. Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy M. Ford; daughter, Judith Maxine Frail, Westfield; sons, Donald William, Halifax; Douglas Roger Wolfe, Caledonia; sisters, Florence Fisher, Audrey Maxwell, Belleville, Ont.; six grandchildren; a step- grandchild. He was predeceased by brother, Roderick Alvin. Visitation 3-5, 7-9 p.m. today in Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday in Caledonia United Church, Rev. Betsy Hogan officiating. Burial in Highland Cemetery, Caledonia. Family flowers only. Donations to Alzheimer wing, palliative care room, North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia, or any charity.
