CONRAD, Donald Hector - 81, Volgers Cove, Lunenburg Co., died December 9, 1997, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Volgers Cove, he was a son of the late Ernest and Clara (Smith) Conrad. He was employed with Bowater Mersey Paper Co. for 23 years and was also a farmer. He was a member of St. John's United Church, Voglers Cove, and Beach Combers Seniors Group, Broad Cove. He was a well-known fiddler who volunteered at many fund-raisers for charitable organizations. He was a past member of Lunenburg Fiddlers Association; South Shore Bluegrass Association and Maritime Fiddlers Association. Surviving are his wife, the former Doris Creaser; daughters, Marie (Mrs. Reynolds Aulenback), Voglers Cove; Ann (Mrs. Otis Scott), Pleasantville; Ruth Conrad, Lower Sackville; son, Lee and wife Karen, Enfield; sister, Arvilla McLaren, Worcester, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Wilson, Mahlon, Carl, Clifford. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday in St. John's United Church, Voglers Cove, Rev. Charlotte Youland officiating, assisted by Rev. Wayne Mitton. Burial in Sea Side Cemetery, Voglers Cove. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's United Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or any charity.
