TANNER, Mary Helen - 80, 5 year resident of Victoria Haven Nursing Home, former longtime resident of 8 Alphonse St., Glace Bay, died December 22, 1997, in Glace Bay Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Elizabeth (MacKenzie) Peters. She was a member of St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Glace Bay. Surviving are son, Joseph, Peterborough, Ont.; stepson, William R. Tanner, Glace Bay; stepdaughters, Shirley (Mrs. Bill Starr), Vancouver, B.C.; Elizabeth Prosper, June (Mrs. Gary Hillier), Toronto; Marlene (Mrs. James Whalen), Glace Bay; sisters, Annabelle (Mrs. John Vaters), Glace Bay; Mrs. Catherine Young, Brantford, Ont.; Mrs. Grace Hopkins, Toronto. She was predeceased by her husband, William; sisters, Dorothy Jean Hodder, Elizabeth MacKenzie. Visitation 2 -4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, both in Patten Funeral Home and Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, Rev. Doug Murphy officiating. Burial in Black Brook Cemetery. Donations to Canadian Diabetes Association.
