Obituary: ISENOR, Charles Ivan (NS)
Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia
ISENOR, Charles Ivan - 84, Carrolls Corner, died May 13, 1998, after a short illness, in Middle Musquodoboit Regional Hospital. Born in 1914 in Carrolls Corner, he was a son of the late Freeman William and Gertrude Mae (Tully) Isenor. He spent his early years working in the Annapolis Valley in apple orchards and as a gardener. He returned to Carrolls Corner in 1941 and worked on construction sites until 1954. He worked for National Gypsum for 25 years as a plant mechanic until his retirement. He liked to work with wood and made many beautiful lathe pieces for his family during his retirement. Charlie had a deep respect for his land and his ancestral roots, always planted a large garden to share with his family, had a wonderful sense of humor and was very much loved and respected by his entire family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Gladys Turner; sons, Ivan and wife Lois, Thunder Bay, Ont.; Chesley, Cochrane, Alta.; Ray and wife Dorothy, Dartmouth; Gerald and wife Anne, Halifax; Anthony and wife Karen, Carrolls Corner; daughters, Mildred and husband Laurie Brown, Carrolls Corner; Jean and husband Donald Miller, Halifax; Barbara and husband Wally Margeson, Brantford, Ont.; 14 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; brother, Ira and wife Ruth, Milford; sisters-in-law, Bernice, Carrolls Corner; Betty, Kamloops, B.C.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Lawrence, Lloyd, Ronald, Neil; sister, Marion McKillop; daughter-in-law, Carol Isenor. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today, May 15, funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16, both in Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, Don McFadden, L.T., and Rev. Alice Rutherford officiating. Burial in Gays River United Church Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
