KNICKLE, Gilbert St. Clair - 78, 138 Dufferin St., Lunenburg, died April 6, 1998, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of the late Guy and Mae (Nauss) Knickle. He served for 32 years for Canada Post in Lunenburg. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg; Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 23, Lunenburg, and West Nova Scotia Regimental Brand (Militia), prior to the war. He served overseas from 1939-1945, in England, and then in the Italian Campaign, where he became wounded in action. He was an ardent hunter and fisherman and was a longtime president of Lunenburg County Wildlife Association. He was a member of Queens County Fish and Game Association; North Queens Hunter and Land Owners Association; the Lunenburg Rod and Gun Club and was director of LaHave River Salmon Association. Surviving are his wife, the former Ona I. Mosher; sister, Lucille (Mrs. Eric Ritcey), Lunenburg. He was predeceased by brother, Warren. No visitation by family request. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday in Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Douglas Moore officiating, assisted by Rev. William Gustafson. Burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. Family flowers only. Donations to Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Canadian Cancer Society, Lunenburg County Wild Life Association or any charity. Arrangements entrusted to Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg.
