RAFUSE, Raymond Wesley (Ray) - 85, Highland Avenue, New Minas, died March 4, 1998, at home. Born in New Ross, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Harold and Mary (Russell) Rafuse. He attended New Ross School. He and his wife owned and operated the Red & White store in New Minas for nine years. He was an industrial arts teacher at Hantsport School, and an industrial teacher and a driver education teacher at Kings County Academy, Kentville. He was a member of New Minas United Baptist Church and took an active part in church and community affairs. He was employed in the maintenance department as a locksmith for Acadia University for 17 years. Surviving are his wife, the former Eileen Gates; daughters, Valerie and husband Norman Taylor, Brentwood; Linda and husband Reg Horsman, Fredericton, N.B.; sisters, Lona Redden, Somerset, Kings Co.; Pauline Lightfoot, Berwick; Edna (Mrs. Gordon Graham), Berwick; sister-in-law, Gladys Rafuse, New Ross; grandchildren, Andrew, Juillene and Aaron Taylor, Becky and Chris Horsman; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Delmar; sister, Hazel Murphy. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Kentville. Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday in New Minas United Baptist Church, Rev. Don Robertson and Rev. Wayne Fevens officiating. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only. Memorial donations to the New Minas United Baptist Church or the charity of choice.
