BARKHOUSE, Hudson Benjamin - 74, Martins Point, Lunenburg Co., died January 1, 1998, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Martins Point, he was a son of the late Alexander and Jennie (Sawler) Barkhouse. He was a volunteer with the Royal Canadian Reserves during the Second World War. He was an avid collector of war memorabilia, making several contributions of items to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 88, Chester Basin, of which he was a member. He was a self-employed electrician by trade. Surviving are daughters, Dorothy Crocker, Kentville; Darlene (Mrs. Clyde Lenihan), New Ross; sons, Lewis, Kentville; Gary, Oakland; sisters, Julia Barkhouse, Martins Point; Joy (Mrs. Karl Davidson), Martock; brothers, Rodney, Dartmouth; Ruben, Roy, Martins Point; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Rita Bennett; brothers, Arthur, Russell, Ralph. No visitation by family request. Funeral 10:30 a.m. Saturday in New Hope Community Church, Western Shore, Rev. Ren? Therberg? officiating. Burial in Western Shore Pentecostal Cemetery. Family flowers only by request. Donations to Canadian Diabetes Association, Nova Scotia Lung Association or New Hope Community Church. Arrangements entrusted to Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay.
