The site for the original church was donated by Walter Stoddard in 1890 per deed recorded in the Law Courts of Halifax. The "new church", measuring 24' x 31', was started in 1891 and opened for worship in 1894. The church started life as a Robb Free Church of Scotland, then Presbyterian, and finally as a United Church of Canada with the union of the country's Presbyterian, Congregationalist and Methodist churches.
