The lot was purchased in 1832 and the chapel built in 1835 (torn down in 1930) through the efforts of Anthony Hannan, a native of County Limerick, Ireland, stationed with the garrison at Fort Anne. His is the earliest stone in the cemetery; he died Oct. 14, 1836
