Registered to County of Brant. In 1831 two acres of land was donated by Hiram Capron, the founder of the town of Paris, for use as the first public cemetery in Paris. The town outgrew the cemetery by the 1870's and a
new cemetery was established. Many of those buried in the cemetery were moved to the new cemetery so that families could be buried together. Hiram Capron, who was originally buried in this cemetery, was moved to
St James Cemetery.
