Registered to Township of Georgian Bluffs. The land was purchased by Mr. Thomas Pettman when it became available after 1861 Colpoys Bay Surrender, about 1862. Twenty years later, Pettman had cemetery surveyed by N.E. Low, P.L.S. and registered in 1882. The Oxenden Cemetery continued to be operated privately by a few different owners until 1945 when it was sold to the Corporation of the Township of Keppel. 1868, James Atkey, Missionary was first known to be interred at Oxenden.
