Registered to Township of Dawson. The cemetery is small and could easily be recorded in a couple hours. From F. Janet (Smart) Gosior: Pinewood Cemetery is located on the original homestead of my grandfather, Francis William Longmore. It is believed he donated the land to the town of Pinewood for the cemetery. Frank Longmore met with a tragic death as a result of a premature dynamite explosion while clearing his homestead in 1913. It has been said that he was the first person to be buried in the cemetery. This probably can be confirmed when a cemetery recording is available. He is buried in the middle of the cemetery with an impressive five foot monument. The area around the monument is enclosed with concrete curbing allowing space for four graves. These graves were for Frank, his wife, and his two daughters. Frank's wife remarried and is not buried here. One daughter is buried in Minnesota with her husband. The younger daughter was my mother, Comet Frances Longmore. Frances's ashes, along with my father's ashes, Whitelaw Thomas Smart, were buried in the available plots. Although they died in 2001 and 2000 respectively, their ashes were buried in July 2007 by their daughter F. Janet (Smart) Gosior. These are probably the last interments made.
