Church / Denomination: Our Lady of LaSalette Church
In 1899, Father Heynen, of the Deloraine Parish of the Archdiocese of St Boniface, organized the residents of the Alma District to build a parish church and rectory on what now is the site of the cemetery. In 1899 the Missionaries de La Salette came from France via the United States to establish centers in Western Canada. The new mission at Alma was handed to the La Salette Fathers in 1899. It was during their first years here that some graves were moved from a gravesite at SE 14-8-7 W2, to this church site. In 1904 a larger church and rectory were built in the growing community of Forget that was along the CPR line a mile north and 1/2 mile east of the cemetery site.
