14 9 Gardiner Samuel Canada Presbyterian 4 M Y People murmur very much about the New School Act that came into force in 1851.  They think it well adapted for Towns & Villages, but not at all for their Bush.. The Average may be destroyed for the year by one days poor attendance which will often occur in Winter through Snow etc., and in spring and Fall through the badness of the Roads.  In Harvest & Haymaking poor people are under the necessity of keeping their children from School also to save their crops, at least all that are able to work.  This must have a great effect upon the average also when the School is kept open.  There has been but two or three Schools kept open in this Township in 1851, wherein we had six of seven under the old School System.
